Great article.

You're no less a person because you do not forgive people. Forgiveness is just another Christian myth about life and nirvana. Christ, while on the cross, told his father in heaven to forgive them for they know not what they do. Does anyone ever claim that God, in his almost infinite mercy, ever listened to Jesus's plea and forgave a single soldier or citizen that mocked and crucified his son? My bet is that God ignored his son's plea, but the right-winged Christians can't really say either way and I'll bet have never even considered it. You see, if God forgave them even though none of them asked, he may lose the argument that he should forgive everyone, regardless of whether or not they ask. I'll bet most Christians simply could not live with that, but I, a simple man, can.

It's not always about forgivenenss, it's also about justice, but when the right wants to make a point, boy, how they mistreat the evidence in doing so.

What a joke for anyone to think that McCain isn't showing his real stripes now that it's his last chance to be President. I lost respect for the man and now would never vote for him.

Christians who are more than Christian in name practice their faith: they forgive. They don't seek revenge, or try to defend their honor. I don't know if I could forgive under similar circumstances to the McCain family's. But I can respect someone who does.

Perhaps Ann Banks hasn't been around people who can do that, genuinely, completely, even when they've been hurt deeply. But I have. Its hard to do, but people who do are worthy human beings--worthy of respect. Worthy of emulation and admiration. In fact, Ann, your story may just have sealed a vote for a candidate I had no commitment to ten minutes ago.
