Reporting Back

In early February, Jessica Valenti reported that TED Talks, the host of conferences and videos watched by millions, did not organize discussions on abortion and did not believe the issue fit into “wider issues of justice, inequality and human rights.” Shortly after the story broke, we launched a petition demanding a policy change. After less than 24-hours of pressure from NARAL Pro-Choice America and Nation readers, TED backtracked, claiming that their words were taken out of context and that they welcomed discussions of “abortion as a social justice issue.” To hold TED to its word, head to TED’s website to suggest your favorite reproductive justice activists and writers as possible speakers.
