Three-pronged fork or one?

Mr. Hayes's fork in the beast that is devouring the nation's economy seems to have three prongs, but it really has only one. Eliminating the Bush tax cuts is the only prong available in reality. Ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is not going to happen—not to curb the deficit. Restoring growth is not a governmental act as is fiscal legislation. It is a desired outcome. Thus, I count only one prong—not adequate, in my view.

Thanks to JournoList!

Please let us know when you have collaborated with friends at JournoList in writing your columns. You know, sort of "Check the Box." It will save all of us a great deal of time and effort by not having to read or consider alternative viewpoints. That, in turn, will save a bunch of trees—undoubtedly your hidden agenda. Keep up the good work! You are making us so proud of your profession.

Republican agenda exposed

A simply outstanding job on the editorial. You drove right to the core of the Republican agenda. Your editorial laid the whole conservative strategy out in the open for everyone to see: "gutting the welfare state and redistributing wealth upward."
