Support Rashid Khalidi

I haven’t spent any time on the latest McCarthyite garbage McCainFoxDrudge is pushing, attempting to make an issue of Obama’s “ties” to Palestinian-American historian and author Rashid Khalidi.

The reason I haven’t is because the charge that Khalidi is “anti-semitic” is beneath contempt and about as worthy of rebutting as earlier accusations from convicted felon Larry Sinclair that he had sex with Obama in a limo and watched him smoke crack. (If you are looking for a rebuttal, Scott Horton has a good one here.)

Ezra, though, has a better idea than wasting time with this crap. He recommends, as an act of solidarity, readers purchase Khalidi’s book, The Iron Cage. It’s an excellent book and would serve as a nice eff-you to the folks currently pushing this garbage.

Your support makes stories like this possible

From Minneapolis to Venezuela, from Gaza to Washington, DC, this is a time of staggering chaos, cruelty, and violence.

Unlike other publications that parrot the views of authoritarians, billionaires, and corporations, The Nation publishes stories that hold the powerful to account and center the communities too often denied a voice in the national media—stories like the one you’ve just read.

Each day, our journalism cuts through lies and distortions, contextualizes the developments reshaping politics around the globe, and advances progressive ideas that oxygenate our movements and instigate change in the halls of power.

This independent journalism is only possible with the support of our readers. If you want to see more urgent coverage like this, please donate to The Nation today.
