In his year-end news conference, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan lamented that so much of the year had been devoted to Iraq at the expense of other global problems like poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy. “Let’s get our priorities right in 2004,” Annan said before opening the floor to questions.
