Since most of President Obama's economic advisers graduated from Harvard, I had come to the conclusion that Ivy League schools were highly overrated. At one time, in my distant youth, I thought it would be nice to go to UC Berkeley, because the historian Kenneth Stampp taught there. Imagine my dismay when I found out that one of Obama's economic advisers was from Berkeley! I have therefore come to the conclusion that the quality of instruction has slipped in all American universities.
