This is how a war of counterinsurgency is lost--when rule by the insurgents is perceived as preferable. However that may be, many Americans are so jaded and evil that they prefer the illusion of vengeance to a victory.

Never mind even the simple fact that the vengeance is being visited upon those who were not the perpetrators of violent or terrorist attack on the US.

Aw, gee. America's secret prisons? Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Khobar Towers, USS Cole, World Trade Center 1993, US Embassy in Tanzania, US Embassy in Nairobi, 9/11... the list goes on.

The Afghans can have their peace and quiet after they help us root out and destroy the Taliban... and not one moment before.

They have sowed the wind; now they reap the whirlwind.

Too bad!
