Cruel America
Love it or leave it
This is a biased report that trashes America. Because of the death that happens in America, Schell expresses a hatred not only for the political leaders but also for the people of America. People have the right to express their feelings about the government, but once somebody trashes the people of America they shouldn’t be able to speak. If this man does not appreciate America he can leave.
Schell starts his essay with a completely random subject, presidential campaigns. The idea he brings forth does not go along with the rest of his essay. His essay skips from topic to topic, while still trying to bring them all together under an idea of violence in America that should not be tolerated. This essay was a vessel for hatred from a left-wing Democrat towards right-wing Republicans. As he develops his essay, he also brings in important arguments of our time such as that around Osama bin Laden’s death. Schell says that happiness over Osama bin Laden’s death is unacceptable, but Bin Laden stole more than 2,000 lives of our own people.
Schell sounds like he is an anti-American. He has the choice to live in this country or leave. If he doesn’t agree with America and its people so much as to argue against violence but strike with violence in his writing, he should leave the country or think about what he is saying before he becomes a hypocrite. Many people do not believe in all the things America does, but they would still stay by this country until their death. Many people did on 9/11. Schell can leave and should if he doesn’t agree with America because this isn’t a communist state where he is required to stay.
