In the Clear: On Scientology

Another L. Ron Hubbard book

Another very good book on Scientology, specifically L. Ron Hubbard‘s life and doings, is Bare-faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard, by Russell Miller, published in 1987.

Wrong word

“Scientology is, in other words, aggressively evangelical...” The proper word is “evangelistic.” “Evangelical” describes a branch of Protestantism that believes in the Bible, including its miracles and prophecies.

Necessary distinction

Unless you meant the word to mean zealous, you must realize that Scientologists are not evangelical. Scientology is not Christian.

Is that clear?

Only one comment: a couple of years ago I heard part of an interview with a woman—sorry, I do not remember her name—who was a spokesperson for Scientology. Someone was comparing Christian Science with Scientology and she stated that there were totally different and that Scientology was not a religion.
