It may be that line about an "eighth graderl" that is why all of LA just can't see it. Trial by Media 2009 just doesn't cut it.

Mr. Trillin, your poem is amazing and powerful. Thank you for "naming names" in the title of your poem. I hope that people who think Polanski should be forgiven for brutalizing a child use your poem as a mirror to see their hideousness reflected. Goldberg, Weinstein and company should be deeply and thoroughly ashamed. It is beyond comprehension that anyone should think that Polanski should not be sentenced and punished severely for fleeing justice. Your phrase about the rules only applying to "the little people" is so accurate. Can these people imagine their sister, daughter, niece, grandchild, the kid next door, even, being raped, and then thinking that the rapist should go free? It is my hope that your poem is a catalyst for justice and that punishment for Polanski is swift and severe.

That is a beautiful piece of poetry, sir. Thank you for putting a fine point on the craziness that is Hollywood's support of Roman Polanski.

The Hollywood apologists for Polanski's disgusting and inexcusable behavior are enablers of every future pedophile who slithers throughout the world preying upon children of any age. It's about time that Polanski is called what he is. But I don't know any words vile enough to match his conduct.

Thanks to Mr. Trillin, a neutron bomb just landed in Mr. Polanski's lap where, one can hope, it did the most damage.

Calvin Trillin hits Hollywood hard on the Polanski defense. Why isn't everybody else doing this? Et tu, brute?
