Healthcare Reality Check

'Obamacare' and my self-insuring company

Here is how Obamacare has affected me. Before Obamacare, that is up until December 31, 2010, the family deductible on my company-paid medical plan was $300 annually. After Obamacare, that is on January 1, 2011, the family deductible on my company-paid medical plan rose to $2,800 annually. You can do the math. Since my company is self-insured, my company decides what it will charge for healthcare coverage. In this case, they decided... because of Obamacare... to raise the family deductible from $300 to $2,800—"Take it or leave it."

When Obama said, "If you like your current health plan, you'll be able to keep it," he was lying. Well, no surprise there. When Obama said his plan would bend the cost curve downward, what he really meant was: bend over and face downward. I was sodomized by the president of the United States.
