In 2006, then-Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff ended the
Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s informal “catch-and-release”
policy and instituted mandatory detention for illegal immigrants
awaiting the outcome of asylum appeals or deportation proceedings–even
those with young children. This trailer showcases the efforts of
concerned citizens and the ACLU of Texas to shut down the
controversial
T. Don Hutto Residential Facility
, a for-profit prison operated by
the
Corrections Corporation of America.
