Vanden Heuvel argues that Obama should “find a way out of Libya” and support the surge in Arab democratic movements that has risen up in the past months.

Bush tried elections in Egypt, Lebanon and the West Bank and the US saw Hamas, Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood win, and asks whether Americans could really face the results of democratic elections in Saudi Arabia or Bahrain. Vanden Heuvel responds: "I believe in the power of democracy from below, not through bullets, and not the way George W. brought it to Iraq.”
