Intelligence officials claim to have foiled a terrorist plot ;orchestrated by a branch of Al Qaeda in Yemen, which might suggest that US counterterrorism strategies are working. However, The Nation’s Jeremy Scahill argues in this clip that “what the United States is doing in Yemen right now, in terms of the forces that it’s supporting inside of Yemen and the military campaign that it’s conducting, is going to make it more likely that Yemen becomes a safe haven for those kinds of [terrorist] groups.”
