During his third appearence on The Colbert Report, Robert Wexler, a
self-proclaimed liberal Democrat, explains the importance of liberalism
in America and his new book, Fire-Breathing Liberal: How I Learned to
Survive (and Thrive) in the Contact Sport of Congress
. The book explores his role in recent American politics, from calls to impeach Bush to arguing against the surge to grilling Alberto Gonzales. Wexler caught some flak after a 2006 interview with Colbert who persuaded the
congressman to jokingly say he enjoys cocaine and prostitution because
they are “fun things to do.” Last week on the show Wexler successfully
dodged Colbert’s second attempts to “lose him” his seventh term as his
Florida district’s congressman.
