Jeremy Scahill, Nation correspondent, appears on “The Rachel Maddow Show” to talk about Blackwater founder Erik Prince’s secret involvement with CIA actions against Al Qaeda. On the heels of Obama’s troop increase that will bring the total number of troops in Afghanistan to 100,000, it is astonishing to learn that there are more than 100,000 private contractors already in the country–and that Blackwater’s own head has been personally involved with plans such as “inserting personnel into ‘denied areas’–places US intelligence has trouble penetrating–and assembling hit teams.” Scahill explains the murky nature of Prince’s personal spying for the CIA, a union that amplifies the problems of private contractors involved in wartime strategies with no military oversight.
