Rachel Maddow and New York Times columnist Bob Herbert discuss a
front-page article from the January 13 edition of the
Washington Post
about President-elect Barack Obama’s strategy in
Afghanistan, which is very similar to that of the outgoing administration. Drawing a comparison the disastrous escalation of the
conflict in Vietnam that President John F. Kennedy implemented upon
taking office in 1961, Herbert reiterates many of the damning points he
made in his January 5 column, “The Afghan Quagmire”.
