Watch the recording of Sports Editor Dave Zirin discussing the intersection of sports and politics.

One of America’s premiere sports journalists and The Nation’s first sports editor, Dave Zirin is the author of ten books on the politics of sports, most recently the acclaimed Game Over: How Politics Has Turned the Sports World Upside Down, which USA Today called “the perfect book for our time in sports.” Zirin is a frequent guest on ESPN, MSNBC, and Democracy Now! He also hosts The Nation’s Edge of Sports podcast.

An engaging and dynamic speaker, Zirin has debated FOX Sports president Ed Goren, Bridgestone Firestone President Dan Adomitis and major league baseball players Jose Canseco and John Rocker. His writing has appeared in the New York Times, Vibe Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, the New York Daily News, New York Newsday, the Baltimore Sun, the Pittsburgh Courier, The Source, and countless other publications.

Zirin will talk about his upcoming book, The Kaepernick Effect and join Katrina vanden Heuvel in conversation on a range of racial and social justice issues roiling the sports world including Major League Baseball’s rebuke to Brian Kemp’s brazen voter suppression laws in Georgia and the brewing controversy over the Bejiing Olympics.

Tickets are $10. All proceeds directly support The Nation’s journalism. We hope you will join us! There will be ample time devoted to audience questions and conversation. All ticket-holders will also be sent a link to the recording 24 hours after the event concludes. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].
