Taslima Akhter

Taslima Akhter is a Magnum Foundation fellow and activist who has been documenting garment workers’ lives and struggle for 12 years. Akhter edited a 480-page Bangla book on Rana Plaza collapse: Chobbishe April: Hazar Praner Chitkar’ (24th April: Out Cries of Thousand Souls). She also served in an editorial role for the website athousandcries.org. As a part of working with the community she coordinated the Bangladesh Garment Workers’ Memorial Quilt project. She has written widely on women’s and workers’ issues and translated Alexandra Kollontai’s writings. Taslima now teaches at Pathshala South Asian institute. She is also working as an acting chair of a garment workers rights organization Bangladesh Garment Sramik Samhati (Bangladesh Garment Workers Solidarity). Here website is www.taslimaakhter.com.
