Paul Mavrides

Paul Mavrides (born in 1952) is an artist best known for his collaboration with underground cartoonist Gilbert Shelton on The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers in the 1970s and ’80s. His work has been published in various comics anthologies, including Zap, Young Lust, and Real War Stories He also illustrated several Harvey Pekar stories for American Splendor. In 1997, Mavrides successfully won a court ruling that banned the state of California from levying a sales tax on comic strips and comic books.
