Jonathan Kozol
Jonathan Kozol is the National Book Award-winning author of Death
at an Early Age, Savage Inequalities and other books on
children in inner-city schools. He taught fifth grade for two years in Boston’s suburban
interdistrict program, the longest-lasting voluntary integration effort
in the nation. Kozol
is the winner of the 2005 Puffin/Nation Prize for Creative Citizenship.

increasing in hyper-segregated inner-city schools. And though it's now
fashionable for policy-makers to declare integration a failure,
effective programs across the country still survive--and deserve to thrive.
