Eileen Stillwaggon, who has worked in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Argentina and Ecuador, teaches economics at Gettysburg College (estillwa@
gettysburg.edu). She is the author of Stunted Lives, Stagnant Economies: Poverty, Disease, and Underdevelopment (Rutgers) and several recent articles on the biology and social context of HIV/AIDS in Africa and Latin America.
