From Cairo, Democracy Now!‘s Sharif Kouddous reported on the Egyptian "Day of Departure’" organized today to push President Hosni Mubarak closer to resignation. “It’s one week since the people of Egypt went to battle against the Interior Ministry," Kouddous says. They "won and claimed the streets of Cairo and won Tahrir."
Kouddous recounts how Egyptians have endured violence from the Mubarak regime and notes how Egyptians in Cairo are not able to get information on protests and violence in other parts of Egypt. And, he talks about the attacks on journalists suggesting Tahrir Square is the "safest place for journalists" because outside of the Square journalists are on Mubarak’s streets.
