Two weeks after Mississippi’s infamous "personhood" amendment was soundly defeated, anti-abortion activists have revived the legislation in Virginia and also in Colorado—a state in which personhood measures have already been defeated twice. In a recent appearance on MSNBC, Nation columnist Melissa Harris-Perry argued that personhood law advocates are pushing for states to adopt the draconian law in hopes that it will go to the Supreme Court, giving pro-life groups a chance to overturn Roe v. Wade. Voters thus far, however, have shied away from the measure—"we just haven’t seen any state willing to go this far."
