In the midst of our nation’s economic meltdown, Fox News devotes an entire segment to denouncing a less-than-flattering photo of Sarah Palin.

In a time of immense economic turmoil, in a week when “the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 were on course for falls of more than 20 percent, far worse than any
week during the Great Crash of October and November 1929, or the Black
Monday crash of October 1987,” Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and
Republican media consultant Andrea Tantaros could not help but air their
outrage.

“Ridiculously unfair!” Kelly cried. “This is mortifying…a gross slap
in the face!” Tantaros seethed. The two women were not discussing
job losses, the crippling credit crunch, waves of home foreclosures or
imminent threat of a global recession. Rather, they lashed out
against this week’s Newsweek cover photo of Republican vice
presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The cover was not photoshopped to
erase Palin’s wrinkles, pores, or wisps of facial hair. This fact
enraged the Fox News team, who claimed Barack Obama would never be
treated with such indignity—though those who have scrutinized
cover photos of Obama see plenty of imperfections.
