Campaigning as an unapologetic progressive, the Rev. Jesse Jackson reframed, renewed and refashioned US politics with a pair of hard-fought campaigns for the Democratic presidential nominations of 1984 and 1988.

Those campaigns broke new ground, showing that it was possible to leap lines of race, gender, and class to form coalitions for change. Jackson’s presidential runs also brought in several million new voters–especially young and Black American voters–onto the rolls. The legacy of those campaigns, and those coalitions was celebrated by Sen. Bernie Sanders during his campaigns in 2016 and 2020 and continue to inform progressive politics today.

Join us for an evening of reflection, discussion and tribute as we honor the legacy of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. and discuss how to advance the core programs of that legacy into the future.

Speakers include Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Maxine Waters, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rep. Barbara Lee, Rep. Ro Khanna, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Rep. Jamie RaskinRep. Jonathan Jackson, D.D. Guttenplan, Larry Cohen, James Zogby and Katrina vanden Heuvel. Hosted by John Nichols and including a special appearance by Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr.

Sponsored by The Nation and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. Co-sponsored by In These Times, Progressive Democrats of America, The Arab American Institute and Our Revolution.
