Tracy Weitz PhD, MPA (she/her), is a national expert on abortion care, policy, culture, and politics in the US, and her prior research was the basis for policy changes allowing nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, and physician assistance to provide abortion care. She is currently a professor of sociology and director of the Center on Health, Risk, and Society at American University and a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, both in Washington DC. From 2014-2021, she served as the US programs director for the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation in Omaha, Nebraska.
