Scott Long has documented and advocated against violations of sexual and bodily rights for more than 25 years. He has worked with LGBT+ communities and human rights movements in countries including Albania, Egypt, Iraq, Hungary, Nepal, Romania, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the United States. In 2003, he founded the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights Program at Human Rights Watch, and served as its director till 2010. From 2010-2012, he was a fellow at the Harvard Law School Human Rights Program. From 2012-2016, he lived and worked in Egypt.
