Melinda K.P. Stees
Melinda K.P. Stees is a fiber artist from the Cleveland, Ohio, area, whose work focuses on maximizing the impact and communication possibilities in large, ultra-low-resolution knitted images. As the political divide in the United States has deepened since the 2016 election, and it has become ever more difficult for us to simply talk to each other, she has found an outlet for her worries and anger in pictures. Her knitted images—with soft surfaces that may remind the viewer of a favorite sweater, even as the images themselves are expressing cutting scorn and outrage—have proven to be a stealthy way to get a point across without triggering defenses.
