Kathleen Sweeney is multimedia storyteller who produces photography, video, and text at the intersection of social change, activism, and eco-mindfulness. Her work has been screened and exhibited internationally, including at SXSW, the Atlanta Film Festival, the Jacob Burns Film Center, the LA Center for Digital Arts, the Woodstock Center for Photography, Zentrum fur Kunst und Medientechnologie, and the Sevilla Arts Center. Currently a member of the media-studies faculty at the New School, she has been a visiting artist at Tulane University, Ithaca College, Hamilton College, Colgate University, and Dia:Beacon. Recent funded residencies include the Virginia Center for Creative Arts and Cill Rialaig, Ireland. She has also received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, NYSCA, and the Ford Foundation. A photo essay, “Ovary Actions,” will be published in Afterimage (University of California Press) in June 2019.
