Dáreece Walker is a visual artist based in Brooklyn. He has a MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He has created art for Black Lives Matter and visual aids for protests in New York and in Florida during the 2013 George Zimmerman trial. His work is exhibited widely and he has pieces in the permanent collection of his alma mater, the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs; the NAACP Colorado Springs Chapter; and elsewhere.
On February 26, 2012, Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African American high school student was murdered by George Zimmerman, who was tried but acquitted. Emmett Louis Till, a 14-year-old African American student, was lynched in Mississippi in 1955; his killers were acquitted.
