Carey Shenkman is an attorney specializing in human rights and the First Amendment. He currently works for Michael Ratner, President Emeritus of the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR). Previously, he worked on litigation with CCR on behalf of journalists seeking public access to the court-martial of Chelsea Manning, on human rights litigation before the US Supreme Court, and at the Yugoslav International Tribunal (ICTY). He is an expert consultant for Columbia University’s Global Freedom of Expression program, is academically published in international law, and regularly writes on issues of free speech, human rights, and technology. Mr. Shenkman graduated from New York University School of Law, where he served as an editor of the NYU Law Review, and prior to that completed a Masters in Mathematics from UCLA.
