BOLDFACE, a word game, a text-art collage, or concrete poem made from the boldface headlines of each day’s front page of The New York Times rearranges words into aphorisms, fake news, or wisecracks in an effort to find truth buried beneath official stories, using wit and humor to subvert authoritarian language and thought. The project began on January 20, 2017, Inauguration Day, and continues on into the foreseeable, however dreaded future. BOLDFACE has been exhibited widely and the artist’s book, The First 100 Days in The Dark, January 20 to April 29, 2017, has entered many permanent collections of editioned artists’ books and political art.
