Two years ago, the Supreme Court eviscerated a key section of the Voting Rights Act with its 5-4 decision in Shelby County v. Holder.
Now, our allies in Congress, led by Congressman John Lewis and Senator Patrick Leahy, have introduced the Voting Rights Advancement Act to fix it and undo much of the harm of that decision.
This new bill is exactly what’s needed to restore much of the strength that was gutted from the VRA by the Roberts Court.
