March 4, 2004

We’re happy to welcome to the masthead two contributing writers whose beats will include media, politics and in particular ideas and intellectual debates. Eyal Press, a former contributing editor at Lingua Franca who’s written for The Atlantic Monthly, the New York Times and other publications, has been contributing to The Nation since 1994. A former fellow at the Open Society Institute and a recipient of the James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism, he’s at work on a book chronicling the abortion wars in Buffalo. Scott Sherman comes to us from the Columbia Journalism Review, where he served as a contributing editor. Previously a contributing writer at Lingua Franca, he has written for such publications as the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Village Voice and Dissent. He has contributed to The Nation since 1997.

The NationTwitterFounded by abolitionists in 1865, The Nation has chronicled the breadth and depth of political and cultural life, from the debut of the telegraph to the rise of Twitter, serving as a critical, independent, and progressive voice in American journalism.
