Robert Boyers, a professor of English at Skidmore College, is the editor of Salmagundi and the director of the New York State Summer Writers Institute. He is the author of nine books, including The Dictator’s Dictation: The Politics of Novels and Novelists and Excitable Women, Damaged Men, a collection of short stories.
