Nation correspondent John Nichols appears on GRITtv to discuss the correlation between the low unemployment numbers and our foreign policy. In terms of Afghanistan, he argues, the fact that Americans keep losing their jobs in record numbers is sending a message to Washington: consider a broader range of options for the fate of the war. Nichols cites Joe Biden’s concern about appearing too obsessed with issues around the world at the same time that our own country is struggling so much–a concern that means a lot simply by being discussed in Washington.
