Pinellas County, Florida, has one of the most unequal school systems in the entire country. That makes the county, which includes cities such as St. Petersburg and Clearwater, the perfect place to investigate the school-to-prison pipeline. In this clip from the second episode of documentary series America Divided, Grey’s Anatomy star and former teacher Jesse Williams talks to Mary Brown, a former school-board member of Pinellas County, about inequality in our education system.

America Divided features Jesse Williams, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Poehler, Shonda Rhimes, Rosario Dawson, America Ferrera, Norman Lear, Peter Sarsgaard, and Common examining our country’s crisis of inequality each Friday at 9 pm EST. Check back for exclusive excerpts each Friday morning on The Nation’s Web site.
