Soldiers and police stand guard in Paris’s Jewish quarter. France deployed nearly 10,000 troops to sensitive sites across the nation after the attack on Charlie Hebdo and the murders two days later at a kosher supermarket in east Paris. Nearly half of those forces will be guarding Jewish schools, synagogues and neighborhoods.
