Finally, an "all of the above" option! Thank you! Yes, impeach them all and remove them from office. A trial in the Senate, based upon the overwhelming evidence we already have, will reveal enough to make impeachment and removal a sure thing. But first we must step up the pressure on Congress to do its Constitutional duty.

I would also like to see some jail time and a serious monetary fine. All too often, the "elite" lawbreakers among us get to go to a 'country club prison', and upon leaving the jail go out and enjoy the millions of dollars they duped from all us taxpayers. I shudder to think of what the actual amount of money this war has funneled into the private sector - and within that private sector, how much to a few select companies and corporations and individuals. Will there ever be an accounting of that?

Wouldn't criminal negligence be enough to impeach George Bush, and maybe the whole lot of them?
Posted by jjandi at 05/6/2007
Please IMPEACH them all! We only thought Nixon (and crew) were a 'bad guys' till Lord Bush started stroking this country.

But do begin with Cheney, for this is the most obvious and provable case... Others will follow

Congress needs to Act on Impeachment of Cheney Now.
Forgery is a crime, and knowingly using forged documents for preemptive war is impeachable.

I voted for all of the above, although I had wished the Nixon one was above it, as well.
Posted by brantl at 05/7/2007
Although, time is an issue here. Remember the months it took for the Clinton hearings? They may all be out of office before the completion of the hearings, making this a moot point. I was actually hoping the Hague would hold war crimes trials for Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld.

In a perfect and just world we would wipe the slate clean of everyone in the current administration. But as we all know we no longer live in a country where justice is served to the guilty tyrants that now "govern" this nation. Somehow while we slept and were not paying attention we moved from a free democracy to a dictatorship. This was not a single handed effort but a criminal negligence by those that were on watch i.e. Congress, the media, The Justice Dept. and "We The People." Is there any real way to turn it all around and renew The Constitution.

It's hard enough to get Congress to wake up and demand documents on the Gonzalesgate, etc... We should focus on one. Let it be Cheney. It's true that the "Decider" bears most of the responsibility, but I think it's the draft-dodging Cheney that puts these wild ideas in his head. There's more material on Robust Liberty [robustliberty.blogspot.com]
If Cheney were removed, it would take a lot of wind out of Bush's sail and he may feel vulnerable to a Congress that's waking up from a long sleep. Either way, it must be done before they leave office or we'll be doomed to a worse president, since this man is setting a precedent that should be checked.

I would list "Rooster" Cockburn for his article May14 2007, Is Global Warming A Sin? in the impeachment list too. Lets hope Rooster doesn't go on a Nation Cruse with Carl Rove.

Is global warning a sin? I like the comment of the Roman Catholic Church and selling lines of credit of sin. Sin freely and pay later. Sell your soul to the devil and buy it back later at a discount when you become famous and rich. Thats what one my Economist teachers said to me when I was a freshman. How do manage the pollution on the other side of the world? The CO2 credits are crazy. Say Hello to tornados and giant huricanes and drought. The lowlands are going feel the affect the most. The Mountians will get more hotter 100 degree summer temputures. Thus increasing the electrical demand for indoor cooling and max out the power grid. Cause and effect. Whose to say that we should limit the LDC's (Lesser Develoved Country's) from becoming like us. Modern industrial capitalist Imperialism controlling new technology until the old is worn out or fossil fuels are gone? Supply and demand drive the world economy. Who cares if there no ozone in the higher elevations and everybody over 60 has cataracts? Just slap some sunscreen on and wear a widebrim hat and sunglass, is what Ronald Reagan said in the 1980's.

"All of the above" WAS MIGHTY TEMPTING...
But in this case, I felt it was important to choose a single option on the basis of what might actually be possible. If any one of these criminals were to be impeached, I suspect Congress would have to stop at one due simply to time constraints, and, if I had to choose one, it would be Bush basically because he is a consummately stupid asshole who belongs in an institution for the criminally insane. Cheney, although he definitely is the "power behind the throne," is evil and you can't really impeach evil. Gonzo is just an obnoxious little shit that Congress shouldn't waste time on. I'm starting to think that there is actually a chance that Congress will start impeachment proceedings against George W. Bush, and in the reasonably near future, mainly because of his sheer obstinacy on Iraq.

Not only should they be impeached, but they need to be brought up on war crimes!! Because of our "leaders", America has become a terrorist nation. I don't beleive the American people are terrorists, but the individuals in charge of our great nation are and they deserve the same punishment as Osama.

Actually, his act of illegal wiretapping IS an impeachable offense, and he was warned thus, but went ahead anyway. It is definite grounds for impeachment.

Billy Bob,
"Your smarmy smugness is surpassed only by your intellectual laziness."
Thank you. After the long years of educating ourselves it's nice to have someone measure the relatively low levels of smugness and laziness that we have. And if you're a very good boy, we might be able to figure out how to get out of this godawful mess that the newest members to the 'special consideration' wing of the penitentiaries have managed to cook up.
Have a cookie.
