Nation Seeks Web Editor

The Nation is seeking a web editor to manage and oversee TheNation.com. The position entails a variety of responsibilities related to editing, producing, publishing, packaging and presenting content at TheNation.com, and amplifying the influence and scope of The Nation's online presence. Candidates should be conversant with new media tools, be politically and journalistically savvy, and possess a firm understanding of what constitutes breaking news and issues of import to Nation readers and the progressive community generally.

The position also requires diplomatic skills, fastidious attention to detail, strong line-editing ability, strategic thinking and extraordinary judgement under tight deadline pressure.

The new editor will need to coordinate and manage ideas generated by editorial staffers, and should also be capable of devising both content and promotional ideas in story meetings and administrative strategy sessions. Working with writers, editors, producers and business department staff on multi-media, community, promotional and publishing projects is a key part of the job as is supporting the ongoing development of the site working with the Online Director.

The ideal candidate has worked at a political website, closely follows the news media -- online, print and broadcast -- has broad familiarity with the progressive community, is conversant with SEO standards and basic CMS software. Applicant must work in The Nation's New York City office.

Circulation Fulfillment Manager

The Nation magazine, a prestigious subscription-driven weekly, seeks self-directed manager to handle all facets of fulfillment including: print orders; billing & renewal management; master scheduling; management reports (excel/ Smart-link or equivalent); liaison w/ fulfillment services, printer, newsstand distributor, subscription agents, USPS. Must be detail-oriented, accurate and have good communication skills. Hands-on experience working with PCD or similar service bureau is required. Knowledge of digital and print subscription marketing and fulfillment, including Internet and e-mail subscription marketing, is critical.
