Online Director

The primary responsibility of the person in this position will be to manage the successful development of web projects (requirements gathering, development, deployment, ongoing production).

Key responsibilities include the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects at different phases of the development cycle; Providing strategic input; Ensuring that projects are completed on time and on budget; Successfully communicating project status to all constituencies, including management, other departments, and outside consultants; Managing a staff of one to two producers; Preparing accurate cost estimates for all projects and forecasting accurate project completion dates; Preparing monthly management reports on site traffic and revenues and maintaining the department's budget.

Skills required include a deep experience managing software development on the web. This is not a programming job, but experience with Linux, Apache, MySQL and Perl is important. Excellent management skills with proven experience managing all aspects of web projects including software development, graphic design, and production and stellar time management, communications, presentation and organizational skills required. Business knowledge of publishing including circulation marketing and ad trafficking is helpful.

Web Producer

Responsibilities include coding templates based on designs provided by outside design shops and creating new templates to mesh into thenation.com; Executing e- commerce landing pages and HTML e-mail templates based on comps provided by outside design shops; Assisting web advertising salesperson in creating microsites and uploading advertising creative.

The ideal candidate will understand web standards, demonstrate good design instincts and have at least two years experience hand coding HTML and CSS. Javascript very helpful. Experience with the following services useful though not required: Doubleclick DART, Lyris Listmanager, Democracy In Action, Google AdWords.

Online Advertising Sales Representative

The Nation, America's leading progressive print and online journal, seeks an Online Advertising Sales Representative. Position will have responsibility for growing web advertising revenues and end to end responsibility for all phases of the advertising sales process, including direct-to-client and top agency contacts.
