There’s more turmoil in the news business today than perhaps at any other time in recent history. Newspapers are sinking, old models are failing, and public trust in news media in general is declining. Yet the mainstream media are holding onto every last bit of power they have and that often means dismissing or marginalizing independent journalists, shying away from asking the questions that matter, and trading credibility for access.
