8:25 Tom Tomorrow tweets how Fox marks MLK Jr. Day:  "Monica Crowley on O’Reilly talking abt New Black Panther Party & Dems playing the ‘race card."  How I mark with:  WIth OWS song pick of the day, perhaps the finest song of past few generations, Sam Cooke’s "A Change Gonna Come."

6:20 Just got press release via email from longtime NY occupyer Jeff Smith, in D.C. this week, and others re: OccupyCongress.   Opens:  "On January 17 Americans from across the nation and the world will assemble in the shadows of a broken system to participate in real democracy. At 9 am on the opening day of Congress, Occupy Congress will convene for a day of action against a corrupt political institution. Actions include a multi-occupational General Assembly, teach-ins, an OCCUParty, a pink slip for every congressional “representative” and a march on all three branches of a puppet government that sold our rights and our futures to the 1%."

My man Steve Earle at a packed Riverside Church event tonight for MLK Jr. and OWS.  Russell Simmons among many who spoke.

More useful education via the Stephen Colbert Super PAC. Narrated by John Lithgow:

Too many MLK Jr. or Reclaim the Dream events going on around the USA to count or cover, and many just starting or vigils to come tonight.  MoveOn just linked to this timely reminder of MLK Jr. on military spending.  Follow hashtags #J15 and #OccupytheDream.

Saga of the "Amarillo 13" continues–Occupyers kicked off bus in Texas taking  them to D.C. for actions.  They are just now back on the road in another bus and calling for OWSers to greet them as they stop in cities along the way.  Here’s a local TV report with video.  Protests to Greyhound continue and they have IDed driver and posted photos and livestream.  They should arrive in D.C. Monday — if not booted again.

Matt Taibbi with "everything you need to know" about Wall Street — and "moral dementia" — in one  brief tale.  "At first,  I couldn’t remember how I knew that name. But then I looked it up and saw an explosive Atlantic magazine story, published last year, called, "E-mails Suggest Bear Stearns Cheated Clients Out Of Millions." And then I remembered that piece, and it hit me: Jeffrey Verschleiser is one of the biggest assholes in the entire world!"  (h/t Barbara Bedway)
