Sarah Palin does not speak for women. She speaks for right-wing men. Women care about having the same choice she had when she was asked whether she wanted to have Trig or have an abortion. I don't criticize her choice. I do criticize her desire to restrict others from having the choice. Women care about pay equity, family oriented programs like leave and high-quality, affordable day care. Women care about people having health insurance. Women care about war and peace.

You go, midnighto4! Sarah Palin not only speaks for right wing men - I fear that the primary message of those white men is that they want to have sex with her. Indeed, rational women care about pay equity, health insurance, war/peace. However, Sarah Palin is proof, to me, that we'd better enter a post-gender zone in this election.

I think McCain's straight talk express has gone off Palin's bridge to no where!!!

Palin was bound for flash in the pan status from the moment she was the announced choice for VP.
Of course we all knew that --well most of us reasonably sane folks anyway-- though we've had to wade through a couple of tense, and frankly disturbing, weeks as the so-called mainstream media conducted a pathetic group swoon.
Finally, on the 15th of this month, the NY Times led the charge with several rather scathing pieces on Palin which was followed by the shattering news on the 16th of a 500 point drop in the DOW along with the combined failures/near failures of Lehman Bros., Merrill Lynch, and AIG.
Sarah Palin is now on headlong journey toward ignominy --the perpetual punchline of a very bad joke.
Mark it down folks:
Bush in Boots isn't gonna walk all over anyone anytime soon.
Her best bet for the future may be as an occasional guest on right wing television programs.
Or perhaps selling the latest $99.99 gizmo --in just three easy monthly installments-- on late night TV.

Palin is nothing more than Dick Cheney in lipstick and a skirt. Be afraid. Be very afraid!

As an inner-city male, maybe I'm the one that is out of touch. I understand about Sarah being Governor / Mayor, which is a legitimate claim in my book. Unfortunately that is not the talking point for this campaign. But, the talking point is something I still cannot figure out. What does a "Soccer mom," "PTA member" and "Moose hunter" has to do with being Vice President? Why is this so exciting to white women in this country? Being raised in a single parent home, I also understand the pride in seeing a women achieve the position of vice president or any ambitious job while raising children. But that is not the story in the case of Sarah Palin. She is not struggling like you to pay bills or find affordable daycare for her children. She has the full support of her husband and family in raising the two children who still need parental care. Plus a six figure salary (not including her husband) and a rent free governor’s mansion to make her career hunt more palatable. I guess I’m trying to figure how YOU the average or even, above average women can relate to her so called plight of the working class mother?

The more women learn about Palin's real views, the more they realize that she is bad for American women [canow.org].

Actually the top three options should be utilized. Women surrogates should speak out rejecting in no uncertain terms the very cynical use of Hillary's "18 million cracks" comment in Palin's speech before the RNC convention. But also Obama should speak out with passion and policy about issues that matter to women, and then he and Biden point out how scary a McCain/Palin administration would be for women-- especially those less well connected.

I am confused about the "white women" that McShame/Pablum are attracting. I am a middle aged white woman, most of my friends are white women, and NO ONE I know is supporting that joke of a ticket. I am glad that Obama has chosen to keep his sights set on McShame rather than that distraction vp candidate. And yes, Obama needs to keep letting women know how he is going to support us. If there truly are undecided voters out there (which personally, I find hard to believe), his message of support should help to attract them. Unfortunately the "white Stepford wives" of our country will never believe that they have less than equal rights... because their husbands haven't yet told them that they should "worry their pretty little heads over that silly old stuff". Lord, help us!
