Deregualtion has allowed the thieves entry to the vault. Over many a year, we knew regulations kept the worst at bay, the notion that bankers and financiers are somhow more "responsible" than we poor mortals is absurd. Regulation and prosecution for those that insist on ignoring or twisting the regulations is the only defense we have agaisnt the massive greed of those charged with "taking care" of finance.

Money is a drug more powerful than Heroin. We can't just dole it out and expect that the addict will do the right thing later. This is insane.

Clinton & Rubin did it with the abolition of Glass-Steagall. neither has expressed any regrets, both have been regally rewarded. Obama, Geithner, Summers show no sign of reinstituting genuinely effective regulation, but prefer to play palliative bromide games with toothless salary cap "rules." They too will be suitably blessed by their beneficiaries.

I think those of us who complain here that only regulation will correct everything fail to take into account that serious regulation is most likely to be in the cards in the near future, but that the ship needs to be steadied a bit first, and that's exactly what seems to be happening. At a point when our financial system is at least off of life support, I'm pretty sure the Obama administration, as well as congress, will be enacting some major regulatory reform. To do so now would be premature and would just make things much worse. Obama told us during the campaign that it would be a long process, and has repeated that throughout his 4 months in office, but everyone's writing him off as a failure before he even gets started. Take a breath, America. Jeez!

Where do they think the banks are going to get the capital they are required to raise? The banks are already raising the fees and rates they charge us in order to repay the gov. for the money we loaned them. Is that a form of double dipping? Yeap, right into our wallet.

Use this and remember it...
Einstein said: "The problems that exist in the world today, cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them..!"
Good one isn't it and perfectly applicable for what we are witnessing in regard to this financial economic crisis....
