Nation Poll

Obama wants less smog. What's the best way to get there?

  1. The problem with a 'National light-rail system' is the same problem with switching over to fiber optics. What do you do when you arrive at your destination, but you're really not there yet? The US is a huge country. What vehicle will I have when I get off the rail system? Ideally, I would want a small commuter vehicle that I can use while I am there. Not a bike. I don't want to be wet, hot, cold, etc. A low-cost electric, enclosed buggy? Now, I'm getting interested!

  2. Conversations about carbon emissions always seem to revolve around automobiles. I want to know what we are going to do about trucks -- and not just their carbon emissions, but their physical size! While I drive a compact hybrid, many people I know say they won't buy a smaller (more efficient) car as long as they have to drive along side super-mega-semis!

  3. Actually all the above apply. Although I'm a bit iffy on the bicycle idea it is a good way for the kids to get to school on time it falls short on grocery shopping. The high speed rail system that is already in the stimulus bill is genius. It not only removes millions of autos from the highways addressing both pollution and use of fossil fuels, but provides jobs in the construction phase and jobs in the long term for maintenance and operation. Hopefully the train itself would be built in the US. (GM should be tooling up for it now). And we can hope that ultimately an electric car would be available for rental at ones destination.

  4. YOUR POLLS: A SUGGESTION! Is it possible for you to design the questionaire in such a way that; a) WHILE it gives us "multiple choice" for answering BUT it also gives us the participants to give NOT JUST ONE CHOICE! (sometimes more than one AND at times NONE of the choices given!) b) Give our multiple choices(IF more than one "choice" and "RANK" them in our "Preferred" ORDER. These two added features will give us to express our views better and the RESULTING ANALYSIS OF ALL ANSWERS to the POLL QUESTIONS will yield more reliable and accurate conclusions. THANKS!
