My area of the UP Michigan has been at +10% unemployement for the last 30 freakin years. I am so sick of this economy kicking my ass. 1979 my job at Ford was sent to Mexico. Before NAFTA, Before CAFTA. It hasn't gotten any better, Rep or Dem, doesn't matter, Left, Right, Centrist, Liberal, Conservative; no difference. Rich get richer, poor get poorer, middle gets squeezed harder. People talk of the "sheeple" or the "neo- cons" or the "neo-libs or the "religious right" or the countless so called constituencies and it all adds up to the Politicians lie, the MSM lie, and the corporations just keep the grand payoll scheme going. This has not been a "democracy" in my liftime. Getting more Fascist by the minute.

The categories don't encompass enough to really measure how the recession has affected my area. The amount of homes for sale, foreclosed etc. are a measure of my area's problems. No new construction has put many out of work. Government services cut back. Government fees going up. On a positive note, prices in restaurants, and even retail, are coming down a little with the lack of people shopping and spending.
