C'mon, not even a "none of the above" to any of these unlikely choices? Has The Nation become another push poll? I encourage all thinking individuals to boycott this and any similar poll that offers a limited range of choices in order to arrive at pre-ordained results.
Posted by noparty at 02/2/2007
Given the choices do you, "NOPARTY," really think The Nation is serious with this poll? If I had to guess I would say that The Nation is making fun of the idiocity of Bush and the Iraq War. But I don't know what they had in mind and neither do you. Get off your high horse.
Posted by rlh_1984 at 02/2/2007
Oops. I meant "idiocy".
Posted by rlh_1984 at 02/2/2007
Another hint, "NOPARTY," that this is not a serious poll is to notice at the bottom it says "Not statistically valid." I guess you didn't see that.

For those who relish opportunities to become upset with internet polls, Is Bush a Psychopath? [url]. Enjoy.
Posted by SamThornton at 02/2/2007
To answer the question, "Is Bush a psychopath?", I would have to say, not exactly, but he IS apparently psychotic. After all he seems not to be able to distinguish fantasy from reality. He has this fantasy that the United States can make over every despotic nation in our own image and that just cannot be done. Neither can he seem to see the truth that what happens to Iraq may be beyond our control. Furthermore, he seems willing to take an additional step and attack Iran. What sense does THAT make???? While I am not yet convinced that he falls into the the category of psychopath, because he does not blatently display antisocial tendencies, nonetheless, I think he IS crazy. Just recall the old saw: The definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

http://nyc.indymedia.org/en/2007/02/82596.html Why Congress won't stop Bush from Iraq surge and war with Iran
Posted by Rese at 02/4/2007
WHY HASN'T CONGRESS BEGAN THE IMPEACHMENT PROCESS DUE TO HIGH CRIMES, IE: LYING ABOUT THE WMD'S WHICH WERE NEVER FOUND AND BROUGHT US TO WAR WITH IRAQ.
Posted by JJRANDALL at 02/5/2007
Really? 54% of Nation readers (okay, make that people who happen to show up on the site and vote on a clearly unscientific poll) think we're going to war with Iran? Do we think Bush is that insane?
Posted by antiPartisa at 02/5/2007
After all of our success in Iraq, despots everywhere tremble while the populaces eagerly anticipate the arrival of US troops to spread democracy and sunshine throughout the world. That why I chose "e" in the poll. Now, all you commie liberal nature-loving atheist Bush-haters know the truth.

With or without Iraq Hezballa will move Lebanon towards an Islamic Republic.
I can see action (limited) against Iran, like hitting convoys sneaking shoulder launched rockets into Iraq.
If Bush is to be tried for war crimes then how about congress and all the Dems who voted for it- they knew what they were voting for, they're not stupid. The Dems are playing politics now while GI's die- Christ, the Dems can't even lose a war when they want to.
Posted by robster at 02/6/2007
One more thing: during a crisis we get the opportunity to see what our leaders are really made of- right now there's just no one outstanding.
Posted by robster at 02/6/2007
Mr. Bush will finally see the light, get Americans returned from Iraq, and instead ship some 20 million illegal aliens from the USA to Iraq to out-breed the locals there and take over first Iraq, then sneak across borders and take over neighboring countries. Or not. In any case shipping some 20 million illegals from the USA directly to the war zone on the Iraq/Iran border would likely help all three countries.

There's no stopping this train driven by a madman hell-bent on destroying democracy and feeding the insatiable engine of greed and corruption. The tracks were set long ago by corporations, war profiteers and their lackeys. We're a plutocracy now, folks, and soon becoming a country/military state ruled by the Pentagon. Our only hope is if the "people" wake up, or the dems get some balls. However, I fear we are like the frogs in the pan of warm water--by the timewe notice we are really hot, we will already be cooked.

No, Bush is not a psychopath, he is ignorant and deluded and he has a sense of entitlement because of a natural superiority complex and a need to prove that he can be a success after all. The invasion of Iraq was done in cooperation with the Dems and the American people (which makes us all accountable) and it served three of his (and Cheny's and Wolfowitz, and many others, etc. etc.) wishes. One practical reason of course is to secure Iraq's oil fields and set up a strategic jump off to the rest of the East, and 2. his form of Christianity says that in order for Christ to come back and save us (him), the Temple Mount must be destroyed and rebuilt by Christians/Jews plus he believes Islam wants to destroy those two groups (which is a continuation of an ancient rivalry involving Abraham), and 3. he thinks that if he and his cohorts and others around the world become mega rich that somehow they can save themselves from the holocaust that they (not God or Abraham) are attempting to create. Yes it is insanity and they don't know (nor does his world) that they have other choices, but when something is written down we humans tend to accept it as true and real. It is my opinion that something unexpected and very surprising will put an end to all the insanity.

Should the myopia with which Bush's public image has viewed surprise me? When he ran in 2000, he declared that he was "...against nation building". He claims to oppose despotism and tyranny, yet he not only has done everything he can to become a despot, he has verbalized his wish to be one "...as long as I'm the dictator". However, I have yet to hear the dreaded F-word spoken about him (that's "flip-flop" in case you had a defferent "f" in mind). Whatever the consequences of his term in office and his war in Iraq, it will take generations to recover; even so, the US will never be the nation it was.
Posted by runar at 02/8/2007
why wasn't the following a choice?: complacent, self-serving democrats use iraq pullout as a wedge issue in bid for control of presidency. when they get what they want, iranian backed shia death squads ethnically cleanse the country of sunnis, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths. nation readers add "failure to prevent genocide" to reasons why bush is the worst president ever.

Yo, Antpartisa, yeah, I think he is that insane, or seeking Amageddon. And Tuscano, TOO FUNNY! Disturbed yes, but funny! And lastly, No Party lighten up it's a joke, kinda. Just ask the newly liberated Saudis.
