Why don't you put an option E for "This is the worst piece of legislation ever produced" instead of the self serving pap options you usually put up?

Hmm. Interesting. The NARL fringe coming in a distant third on this vote.

It's a good first step but clearly needs a lot more work.
The senate bill may even be worse to get the 60 votes needed to get around the "unconstitutional" filibuster. But "after" the senate vote, then we can get real about strengthening the public option and maintaining the status quo on reproductive health, because we will only need 51 senators and 218 house members to pass this through the budget reconciliation process.

I am still waiting to see what remains of health care reform after all is said and done. My guess is that my premiums will rise and we won't be closer to universality. But luckily I won't be denied for a pre-existing condition or dropped for being sick. Yeah, this is Change we can believe in! Apparently the hope and change I voted for last year was to be doled out in tiny tiny increments.

If the Stupak-Pitts amendment is in the final law, I shall leave the Democratic party after sixty years. I will continue to work for women's health & their basic right to their own body. LBB

How did the Democrats manage to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory? Shame on conservatives like Stupak that hijacked the Democratic party.Shame on a party that is looking more like the Republicans every day.Now we get to look forward to what? Max and Kent telling us we need a cautious approach to health care reform and all the while a Brink's truck is delivering their campaign contributions to the Congressional bank. Why do you get the feeling our elected officials are working for a small group of people.

Progress, except in times of national security, comes in increments, small to medium sized steps. Just as Medicare was not originally a part of Social Security, or Medicaid to help the indigent and poor, progress was in steps. The entire concept of "politics" is negotiation and compromise; those of us who have been fighting for the poor and the powerless have known this for what seems like eons. The worst bills are the one's that come full bore. Give us something to work with to move ahead in the future, but don't toss out an otherwise progressive piece of legislation for a point or two that won't survive the Senate hearings anyway. Always move forward, never stand still, and certainly, don't even think about regressing.

The idea that Pelosi had to prostitute the Demcratic platform and the entire Democratic Party to get enough Dem votes to pass such a weak bill means one thing to me - GO RALPH NADER, DENNIS KUCINICH and BERNIE SANDERS!!!!!!!
