The Republican Party is in senseless disarray. Is it possible to win their nomination without pretzel-like contortions towards the torch and pitchfork wielding base?
It's strangely funny -- not like ha-ha -- to reminisce back to the summer of '99. It was a Star Wars moment when Dubya was being crowned for the nomination by the torch wielders, and it was simply stunning that McCain could not gain more traction against his featherweight opponent. We could feel the disturbance in the force.
What we've been through since then feels like a horribly bad string of Tarot cards culminating in The Hanged Man.
McCain -- post Judas-kiss embrace with Dubya -- is a pathetic hollowed out shell of a man; yet he is the strong front runner for his party's nomination.
Strange days have surely found us.

It is very hard to know who will get nominated at this point. We shall see how frontloaded the GOP primaries are and if "electability" comes out early on. Giuliani is all the buzz these days but I just don't see how he can pull the GOP together.
Besides, he is so irritating to listen to that the more he talks the more he will alienate the public. Of course, if he is nominated, we will be treated to daily 9-11 videos demonstrating what a courageous leader he is under pressure. 9-11 will again be the rallying cry. But, that being said, his greatest strength may be his achillee's heal if we are still in Iraq (which we will be).

And speaking of Rudy videos, if you haven't seen Rudy in drag as "Rudia" cozying up to a disgusted-looking Donald Trump (who, granted ALWAYS looks disgusted), I would rate it five stars. Wish I could post the link because I'm convinced that this video will completely torpedo his chances. (This video was even mentioned as a possible negative in the "campaign plan" of his that was leaked a few weeks ago). But I just don't have it handy. However, I'm sure anyone who's interested (and I'd think anyone who wants to torpedo his candidacy would be) can find it by doing an Internet search on "Rudia."
